The hiking region around the Spessart national park entices its visitors with a unique variety of hiking paths, which is unprecedented in all of Germany. Along trails in the shade, you hike through the nearly unspoilt scenery, above you the dense leaf canopy of the forests expands accompanied solely by the gentle melodies of countless birds chirping in the trees and the quiet rustling of dried leaves under the soles of your hiking shoes. Tranquil villages in Franconian style are scattered like dots of color along the route, the rustic half-timber houses welcome you with regional delicacies and invite you to linger. Across the so-called ‚Räuberland‘ (land of bandits) you follow the call of the woodpecker all the way into picturesque Aschaffenburg, the plethora of fantastic gardens, old castles and historic monasteries provides an enchanting hiking holiday with the perfect finale.

Throughout you walk on well-maintained hiking paths, forest trails and in parts also on forest roads. The route leads gently along the hills of the Spessart, for walking times of up to 5.5 hours a good basic fitness level is sufficient. Longer tours can comfortably be shortened by public transport.
