Szekler Village Getaway

Although Transylvania is best known for Bram Stoker's Dracula, it is a traveler's paradise. Transylvania is surrounded by unspoilt nature - with its medicinal herbs, wild flowers and wildlife. In addition to its outstanding biosphere, the region is also unique for its cultural diversity, with Hungarians, Romanians, Saxons and Gypsies living side by side.

Taste fresh mineral waters, try your hand at various traditional crafts, learn how to make the famous local dessert - the chimney cake, splash in healing waters, learn about local cultures, try the local gastronomy, discover wildlife - experience a corner of Transylvania as only the locals know it.

    • 1 guided visit to a traditional weaver workshop
    • 1 walking day focused on the szekler gemstone, the Aragonite of Corund, which includes treasure hunting, mining, Museum visiting, bathing and experimental do-it-yourself aragonite grinding and polishing your own bijou by your own hand.
    • 1 E-biking day visiting the country’s only one Straw hut Museum (learning by doing the straw weaving), then visiting a traditional gypsy basket weaver where we will learn by doing the willow basket art&craft.
    • experimental do-it-yourself pottery workshop. You can keep your product as gift.
    • 1 car driven day focusing on post volcanic phenomena. Visit and taste of different mineral water springs, rare cold water geyser in Chirui, the unique volcanic St. Ana Lake and Balvanyos area with natural jacuzzi, Sulphurous Cave mofette, Bath of Apor Sisters, heated mineral water pools, sauna.
    • 1 visit to a 100 year old photo studio where you discover the traditional photo making process, and you can make a group photo with 100 old tehnique
    • Bear watching in the untouched wilderness forests of Szeklerland, in their own habitat
    • Visit to biggest underground salt mine of Romania, and the European rarity Salt Canyon

      Arrival in Cluj Napoca airport for a transfer to your 4*** spa hotel accommodation. Please enquire for transfers from other airports.

      This tour is a relaxing one where the weather and other conditions can sometimes dictate the order of the itinerary. You will be well looked after, with time to take a spa at the hotel/manor, or to walk into the village of Corund and discover the local artisan shops.

      Activities included are in the 'description'. When you are enjoying an activity, you will not be asked to race to the next one as it will fall into the itinerary of subsequent days.
