Luxury Barge Tour in the Scottish Highlands

Muirtown.

Meet at the designated point in Inverness and transfer to the barge moored at Muirtown for a champagne welcome. An early evening stroll to the sea loch will show you views over the Moray and Beauty Firths. Dinner on board.

Muirtown to Dochgarroch.

Morning cruise through Tomnahurich swing bridge where you can walk alongside River Ness and Dochgarroch. After lunch on board, we drive through stunning hilly scenery to take a closer look at one of Scotland's best known exports, whisky, at the Glen Ord distillery, founded in 1838 on the Black Isle by the Mackenzies of Ord. A fascinating description of the maturing ad ageing process of single and blended malts is followed by our special tasting. Dinner on board.

Dochgarroch to Fort Augustus.

This morning we enjoy a visit to Cawdor castle, forever immortalised in Shakespeare's "Scottish Play" Macbeth. The picturesque gardens have been listed as being among the top 100 in the UK. The castle contains a superb collection of tapestries, pictures and furnishings and the Dowager Countess of Cawdor still lives there for part of the year.. Afterwards we go to Culloden Moor ending at Clava Cairns a pre-historic burial site dating back to 2000 BC. The afternoon cruise take us through Loch Dochfour and across Loch Ness to Fort Augustus where we will have dinner on board.

Fort Augustus.

After breakfast our cruise takes up up the 'flight' of Fort Augustus. A drive through some of Scotland's finest scenery takes us to the most famous Eilean Donan castle which overlooks 3 sea lochs. Dinner ashore at a local restaurant.

Fort Augustus to Laggan Locks.

A morning excursion to visit the ruins of Urquhart castle then a gentle drive to Invermoriston falls and the old bridge and back to the barge. The afternoon cruise can be partially walked as we cross Loch Oich and on to the pretty Laggan Avenue. Dinner on board.

Laggan Locks to Banavie.

Our final cruise will take us across Loch Lochy through Moy Bridge before mooring at Banavie beneath Ben Nevis before strolling from Neptune's Staircase leading donw to Locj Eil. . After lunch on board, a tour takes us to the mythical battlefield of Glencoe, and if time permits, we visit the ruins of Old Inverlochy castle. Captain's farewell dinner on board.

After breakfast, disembark and transfer to Inverness.
