Customer Review of Slovenia Food Tour

Tour details

Ian and I thoroughly enjoyed our 'Foodies' tour in Slovenia, it was equal and in some cases superior to food and wine tours we have undertaken in other countries. It was well structured with all of the right elements to make it varied, interesting and educational. The range of activities from wine and olive oil tasting, lunches and dinners, museums and cultural experiences, visits to a wide range of food producers, cooking classes, not to mention the scenery and history made it a memorable trip. The itinerary included visits to producers which are not available to the public which is one of the benchmarks of a good food and wine tour.

We found that Slovenia is a wonderful country to visit, particularly if you have an interest in food and wine.

Ljubljana

The hotel in Ljubljana which was recommended for pre and post tour accommodation was great; we found it a very friendly and pleasant B&B only a few minutes' walk from the old town. I was pleased that it was established in 1932 as we like to stay in historic accommodation.

Guide

I would like to make special mention of our guide who was great company, informative, accommodating and flexible. Two examples of his wonderful service were on day 7, the rest day, when he took us to Trieste for the day and on the day after the tour when he arranged for us to join a small group tour to Bled. The website is right when it says that their guides make you feel like an invited guest, not a tourist!

Rest Day

Particularly because we travel so far to visit countries such as Slovenia, we like to see and experience as much as we can, so rest days are not for us. Our guide told us that some people prefer to spend some time reading by the pool on the rest day but we were very happy that he took us to the Italian coast for the day!

Guaranteed departure

One issue was surprising to us; the advertising and itinerary indicated that the tour is a 'small group tour' but when we were collected at our hotel our guide advised us that it was a 'private tour' so we were the only two on the tour with him as our dedicated driver/guide. From our point of view this was a plus as it gave us flexibility and personal attention.

We are happy to recommend this tour and hope this is useful information for anyone considering it.
