Bamberg to Regensburg 8-Day Bike & Boat Tour (CAS)
From Bamberg to Regensburg, follow the Danube and the Main-Danube Canal to discover the most beautiful sides of Southern Germany –active on your bike, relaxed on board. Starting in the charming city of Bamberg, your route takes you through impressive landscapes, towns steeped in tradition, and picturesque old towns, all the way to Regensburg –a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Ride through scenic river valleys, past monasteries, baroque buildingsand cozy beer gardens. After a day of exploring, your comfortable ship offers space to relax, enjoy good food, and recharge. A journey full of nature, history and the real spirit of Bavaria.
You cycle along towpaths by the canals or on quiet country roads, farm tracks, and forest paths. A few longer climbs are part of the route, so a basic level of fitness is recommended.
A touch of Rococo and an elegant atmosphere welcome you aboard the MS Casanova. Lovingly designed details, playful ornaments, and reproductions of famous paintings lend the ship its very own charm. In the stylish restaurant, the attentive crew takes care of your culinary needs. The spacious panorama lounge, with its royal flair, invites you to relax—whether over a glass of wine, a cocktail, or a pleasant chat at the bar. Those who wish to enjoy the scenery outside will find comfortableloungers and seating on the partially covered sun deck—the perfect place to take in the passing river landscapes.
All 48 cabins are located on the outside of the ship and are equipped with a shower/WC, hairdryer, TV, safe (deposit required), minibar, onboard telephone, and individually adjustable air conditioning. In cabins with two single beds, one bed can be converted into a sofa during the day for added comfort. Cabins with a double bed (160x200 cm) have separate mattresses. All twin-bed cabins are approximately 12m2 in size.

Your first cycling stage starts in Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site a true gem of Franconia, full of medieval charm, narrow lanes and its famous old town. You’ll cycle through the meadow landscapes of the Regnitz Valley, stop in Forchheim a small and welcoming Franconian town and finally reach Erlangen
Erlangen – Nuremberg Cycle tour approx 30km
Today’s tour takes you through flat landscapes and sandy pine forests, past river meadows shaded by tall oaks entwined with wild hops. Passing Fürth a detour into the town is well worth it - you follow the Regnitz-Cycle-Path past the historic “Kettensteg” and “Henkersteg” bridges to the end of today’s stage: Nuremberg. A fascinating mix of medieval charm, impressive architecture, and vibrant culture awaits you
Nuremberg – Hilpolstein, Cycle tour approx. 40 km
The historic Main Danube Canal, built under King Ludwig I and known as the Ludwig Canal, will be your constant companion today. It is one of the oldest canals in the world, offering beautiful panoramas and featuring 101 locks. Towards the end of your ride, you enter the Rothsee Nature Park and reach Hilpoltstein, right at the gateway to the Franconian Lake District
Hilpoltstein – Beilngries, Cycle tour approx. 40 km
This stage takes you through one of Bavaria’s most scenic landscapes – the Altmühl Valley. You start in Hilpoltstein and follow the well marked Altmühl Valley Cycle Path, riding alongside the gently winding Main Danube Canal. Lush meadows, rugged cliffs, and historic locks line your route, a relaxed journey through nature and history. Beilngries, a charming old town with medieval flair is the perfect ending to wonderful day of cycling
Beilngries – Riedenburg, Cycle tour approx. 30 km
The most beautiful stretch of the Altmühl Valley lies ahead! Along the way, numerous information panels provide insights into the region’s history and the unique geology of the valley. There are plenty of opportunities to take a coffee break or simply enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. Today’s destination is the charming town of Riedenburg, known as the “Pearl of the Altmühl Valley.” Surrounded by castle ruins and forested hills, it’s the perfect place to linger, a real insider tip for lovers of nature and culture alike
Riedenburg – Regensburg, Cycle tour approx. 55 km
Today’s route once again leads you through peaceful landscapes and past small villages. A highlight of the day is Kelheim, where the Altmühl meets the Danube. High above the town stands the impressive Hall of Liberation– a striking monument built under King Ludwig I. After a short climb, you’ll be rewarded with wide views over the river landscape. Then you follow the Danube to magnificent Regensburg – one of Germany’s oldest cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Look forward to a destination rich in history, impressive architecture, and authentic Bavarian character
