Bike & Barge Tour from Berlin to Stralsund 

From metropolis Berlin with its extended forests in the north along Oder-Havel canal via Oranienburg and Eberswalde to Schwedt. The silent and unique beauty of the Oder landscape is accompanying you to the Polish Stettin palace. Your route leads you along the unique coast via Usedom to the biggest island in Germany, Rügen with its famous chalk cliff. You end your journey is the old hanseatic city Stralsund.

What can be more beautiful than enjoying the passing landscape while being on board and exploring a lot of interesting things; the country, its inhabitants, culture and nature? Discover the diversified flora and fauna of this unique river landscape, baroque palaces, redbrick Gothic and north German architecture.


Due to its size this is an ideal boat for cruises on river Oder. It offers a restaurant with homelike salon and has 49 cabins available. 42 twin-bed-cabins on the main deck, and 7 twin-bed-cabins on upper deck surcharge. All cabins have a size of about 10, 5 sqm and are equipped with shower/toilet, hairdryer, telephone, TV, safe (fee) and air-condition (windows cannot be opened). One of the two beds is a sofa during the day. All decks, also sun deck are reachable via stairs and a lift. The stairs are very steep (chair lift on passenger and sun deck, carrying capacity max. 100 kg)

Tour character:

Mostly you cycle on traffic-free paths, country roads, tarmac bike paths, sandy fields and forest paths. There are shorter sections that also go along main roads. The route is mostly flat but sometimes it is hilly and there are some steep climbs and descents that have to be managed. If you do not want to cycle, you can also stay on board..

Arrival / Parking / Departure:

Main station Berlin-Spandau and by Subway and S-Bahn to the pier, about 1 km from the pier, with underground and urban train to the boat.
Parking Garage “Hallen am Borsigturm” (1.600 parking spaces), always open, ca. € 10.00/day, about 800 m from mooring point. No reservation possible.
Return journey by train approx. € 46,- per person

  • Day 1

    Arrival in Berlin

    Embarkation until 4 pm. Berlin is worth it. Maybe you have time for a stroll over Kurfürstendamm, through Nicolai quarter at Spree Island or through Brandenburger Tor. Berlin offers many possibilities.

  • Day 2

    Berlin – Oranienburg – Eberswalde approx. 40 km

    The bike path leads towards North to Oranienburg. Well-worth seeing is the baroque palace with park, the museum and the Orangery. You go on board again. Cruise to Eberswalde. In the heart of the city, in Finow canal, the oldest lock in Germany is located. It is a technical memorial since 1978.

  • Day 3

    Eberswalde – Hohensaaten – Schwedt approx. 30 - 65 km

    First you will bike through the splendid landscape on the Treidel bike route along the Finow Canal, passing by forests, glades and small hills in the direction of Niederfinow (boat lift – a tour is always an option) to Hohensaaten. There you will get back on board and sail to Schwedt or if you still like to cycle you go by bike (add. 32 km).

  • Day 4

    Schwedt – Mescherin – Stettin approx. 30 km

    Today you cycle through the unique cross-border area of “International park Lower Oder Valley” and via Gartz to Mescherin where you go on board again. Afterwards cruise to Stettin, the green big town at Oder estuary with one of the biggest harbors at Baltic Sea. Well-worth seeing is the reconstructed palace which is located in the old city. Tip: A guided city walk, to discover Stettin (optional).

  • Day 5

    Stettin – Wolgast (rest day on board)

    Today you spend the whole day on board. After the last narrow passage you reach Stettiner Haff. After crossing that you reach Wolgast, the entrée to island Usedom. Well-worth seeing is the medieval old city with town hall and church.

  • Day 6

    Wolgast – Peenemünde – Lauterbach approx. 15 km

    In the morning you will bike through Zecherin and Karlshagen Harbour to Peenemünde (tip: historical/technical museum in the former power plant). When the weather is fine you may feel like cycling the “beach-route” via Trassenheide and Zinnowitz alternatively. In Peenemünde you will get back on board and at about 6 pm you sail to Lauterbach in the southeast of Rügen Island (arrival around 9 pm).

  • Day 7

    Lauterbach – Stralsund approx. 50 km

    Your bike tour on this day will take you through Putbus, Garz, Groß Schoritz, the birthplace of Ernst Moritz Arndt, Poseritz and Gustow with its well-known village church over the Rügen Dam to Stralsund, where the boat will meet you. As a city with an important past, a stroll through the historic centre, which is situated on an island, will take you past numerous exceptional sights.
