Bike & Barge Tour Stralsund to Berlin

Gorgeous Baltic sea islands and the Oder river. You start this tour in Stralsund, which is an old Hanseatic city. You will go past Rügen with its famous chalk cliffs, Stettin in Poland where there is a lovely palace and in doing so you can enjoy the beauty of the Oder landscape by bike & boat. Your final destination on this tour is Berlin where in the Northern parts there are large forest areas. You will get there by going along the Oder-Havel canal via Schwedt, Eberswalde and Oranienburg.

What could be more beautiful than enjoying the passing landscape while on board and exploring a lot of interesting places and meeting some locals whilst getting to know the culture and nature? Discover the diversified flora and fauna of this unique river landscape, baroque palaces, redbrick Gothic and North German architecture.

Tour character: Level 2 cycling

You mainly cycle along traffic-free paths, country roads and tarmac bike paths as well as sandy fields and forest tracks. There will be shorter sections along main roads. The route is mainly flat but there are hills at times, sometimes steep. If you do not want to cycle, you can stay on board

Accommodation:

Due to its size this is an ideal boat for cruises on river Oder. It offers a restaurant with homelike salon and has 49 cabins available. 42 twin-bed-cabins on the main deck, and 7 twin-bed-cabins on upper deck surcharge. All cabins have a size of about 10, 5 sqm and are equipped with shower/toilet, hairdryer, telephone, TV, safe (fee) and air-condition (windows cannot be opened). One of the two beds is a sofa during the day. All decks, also sun deck are reachable via stairs and a lift. The stairs are very steep (chair lift on passenger and sun deck, carrying capacity max. 100 kg)

Arrival / parking / departure:

• Stralsund Triebseer Damm train station is about 4 km from the pier
• Various parking garages near the boat’s berth “See-, Hafenstraße, Hafeninsel area”, e.g. Parkhaus am Ozeaneum garage costs about €28.00 for 2
• days, each additional day costs approx. €6. No reservation possible
• Return transfer by train from Berlin to Stralsund costs approx. €46 per person

Notes:

• Your boat cruises to the next harbour daily, therefore the time for individual sight-seeing is limited. At some bridges you are not allowed to stay on the sun deck.
• Program and details are subject to change due to nautical and meteorological reasons (this is no reason for a free cancellation). Dietary requirements or vegetarian food can be catered for at a cost of €25 per person per week (payable there). Please inform us at the time of booking.
• To bring your own bike: on request only due to lack of space on sundeck
• Embarkation at 4:00pm. Disembarkation until 9:00am
• 75 guests minimum
• Bike tours: self-guided. The kilometres indicated for the suggested cycle tours are approximate.
• Bike routes / level of difficulty: The quality of the cycle ways along the route is excellent. Most of the stretches are paved or asphalted, and lead alongside the Rhine dikes without any gradients of note. This makes the trip suitable even for unpractised cyclist.
• Optional excursions: Tour stages and the ship's time in port permitting, an optional excursion programme will be organised. Excursions can only be booked and paid (in cash) aboard the ship.
• Luggage: We recommend waterproof rain gear, bike helmet, sun hat and sports shoes. We would like to ask you to do without hard-side luggage, as storage space in the cabin is very limited
• Travel documents: EU -citizens (without special situations like dual citizenship, main residence abroad or a limited-validity passport) are required to have a valid passport or ID-card, not expiring within six (6) months of the return of your cruise. We kindly ask non-EU citizens, EU-nationals with multiple citizenship or anybody who has to respect special legal entry requirements for the country to visit, to inform about visa and entry documents at the competent embassy.
