Somewhere, far beyond the horizon, Venice and the sea are waiting for you! But there will be many temptations on your way there. Stunning countryside and attractive towns invite you to linger on your journey: the vineyards of South Tyrol, Verona, Vicenza and Padua, Lake Garda. Relax in the thermal spas in Abano or in traditional Italian taverns. And then, eventually, you will see the sea. Venice. The town built on poles. Lord Byron once wrote, “I saw from out the wave of her structure’s rise, as from the stroke of the enchanter’s wand: A thousand years their cloudy wings expand around me”. Venice will also bewitch you. And yet the journey will be your goal!

The terrain is flat to slightly hilly. The only strenuous stretch is through the Monti Berici hills. The first two stages are mainly cycle paths and to the south and east of Lake Garda mostly service and side roads. Due to a lack of cycle paths along some sections, cycling on roads with moderate traffic is unfortunately unavoidable. Nearly all roads are asphalted.

Arrival/parking/departure:

• Arrival by train to Bolzano
• Venice or Verona airport
• Parking: Hotel parking spaces or hotel garage, costs approx. EUR 10 to EUR 25 per day or EUR 155 per week. Public parking spaces, costs approx. EUR 92 to EUR 140 per week
• Return transfer to Bolzano every FRI, SAT and SUN morning, costs EUR 109 per person, EUR 49 for your own bike, reservation is necessary, to be paid for in advance
