Carinthian Lakes 8-day Self-guided Cycling Tour Level 2
The “Austrian Riviera”, is what the locals call the Carinthian lake region. it is Austria's southernmost and sunniest region and makes an ideal location for a picture book bike tour. Many lakes are magically embedded in a unique background of staggered mountain ranges. There are cultural treats such as Hochosterwitz castle or Maria Saal and cultural cities like Villach and Klagenfurt. You will find splendid places to swim and a lot of unspoiled nature. All of this will treat you to a bike tour par excellence. And remember: the most beautiful weather is found in the Carinthian lakes land!
The variation between the individual river valleys and lakes – as well as avoiding roads with heavy traffic – makes this route slightly hilly. This journey can be carried out by any frequent cyclist. You mainly cycle along tarmac bike paths and quiet side roads.
