Panoramic 8-Day Self-Guided Cycling Tour Based in a 4* Hotel (Level 2)
Zell am See and the village Maishofen with its castles make ideal starting points for your daytrips. On mostly flat bike paths, you can explore the region around Lake Zell and enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding, partly snow-covered peaks of the over 3,000 metres high Tauern Mountains. You will ride comfortably to unique natural wonders such as the Krimml waterfalls or the Seisenbergklamm gorge and to cultural highlights such as the new national park museum or the tourist mine in Leogang. Also the highest mountain in Austria, the Großglockner with its 3,798 metres, is worth a visit. The bus will take you up to 2,500 metres. Many castles are located on or above the road. Your hosts will take care of you after your cycling days and we also recommend mingling with the locals in order to experience firsthand what it means to live traditions on a daily basis
You will cycle on almost completely flat routes in the river valleys of the Salzach and Saalach rivers. Only when the bike path leaves the riverbank, the terrain gets slightly hilly. You will find yourself mostly on paved bike paths and quiet side streets. Only very short sections will be cycled on roads with more traffic.
The motto of the family Neumayer “preserve traditional values worth of protection and convince with the contemporary” is implemented in a very lovely way in every detail of their hotel. The family has been running, and above all living, the agricultural and touristic family business for eight generations. This is how they make you feel what it means to be “really a guest”. The castle, which was fully renovated, will take you back to ancient times and still you won’t miss any modern comfort. Only natural materials were used in the very stylish rooms. The family’s love for local products can also be found in the hotel kitchen. The hotel restaurant is widely known for its Pinzgau specialities for which products from the farm, the garden, the fields and woods are used. Even the bread is baked in their own wooden stove. The Badstub`n spa – with a rustic farmer’s sauna, stone bath, solarium, and infrared cabin – invites you to relax. Or you can refresh yourself in the large swimming pond in the garden of the castle.

After your daytrip, you will return back to your hotel through lush meadows and on beautifully landscaped paths.
Into the Glemm-Valley approx. 30-40 km
The newly opened and well-developed cycle path leads you gently uphill to the world-famous alpine ski resort of Saalbach and even further to Hinterglemm. How about a cable car ride (to be organized by your own) to the over 2000-metre-high Mount Schattberg with its breathtaking panorama
To the Seisenbergklamm gorge in Weißbach approx. 50 km
Today you will cycle through a small rural hamlet, first to Maria Alm and then to Saalfelden. From there, you will continue along the river Saalach to Weißbach to the Seisenbergklamm gorge. In 1831, woodcutters constructed a 600 metres long way on which now visitors can explore the gorge. Later, you will cycle back to your hotel past Lake Ritzensee and through the Kolling woods.
