Southern Dalmatia 8-day Bike & Boat Tour to/from Trogir (SS)
This boat & bike tour through Southern Dalmatia will take us past unique little towns and through the beautiful island world. Experience the islands of Brač, Korčula und Šolta as well as the beautiful lavender island of Hvar. Stroll around Hvar town with its mighty fortress and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in the artist’s town of Stari Grad. The UNESCO world heritage cities of Trogir and Split will add to the highlights on this tour and inspire with their incredible history. Try a variation of local specialties on your journey, especially the local wines also referred to locally as ‘gods drop’.
This tour is occasionally offered parallel to the mountain bike cruise in Southern Dalmatia on the same boat. In this case one tour guide will cycle with the mountain bikers while the other will accompany the hybrid cyclists. Due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements the tour could be conducted in reverse order.
At 31 x 8 m the premium ship was launched in 2009 and was made exclusively for Island-hopping cruises. This ship, constructed entirely of oak, was built by the Serka family over three years in their own carpentry as a family project. The wooden boarded salon spreads a cosy atmosphere accentuated by the various outdoor lounging areas and the meadow of sunning mats on the top deck. The 14 spacious guest cabins are air conditioned and fitted with shower and toilet. The crew and the captain care for an immaculate appearance and a fun loving atmosphere on board the ship.
The chef on board is a member of the crew and prepares the breakfast and and or two warm meals a day. The catering consists of 2 x full board and 5 x half board. Catering starts with the dinner on the arrival day and ends with the breakfast on the departure day.
Cycling tours through hilly to mountainous terrain with some steeper ascents of up to approximately 400 meters. Requires confident riding on winding descents, uneven asphalt, and occasionally gravel paths. Suitable for experienced cyclists accustomed to longer daily stages. The roads are mostly asphalted and there is little traffic outside of holiday periods. On the islands of Hvar and Korčula, some short sections lead over unpaved gravel and field tracks. In and around the coastal city of Split, as well as in the town of Hvar, traffic can be expected.
Safe cycling skills and familiarity with road traffic are prerequisites for taking part in our tours. All tours, including the elevation gains, can be mastered more easily with electronic assistance. Anyone renting an e-bike should already have experience and be confident in handling e-bikes, as these bikes are significantly heavier and faster than conventional bikes.
We believe that only children in a good physical condition and with a minimum age of 10 and previous bicycle tour experience are able to master the cycle tours on their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.20 m (4 ft.). There is a helmet duty for all children up to age 16 in Croatia.
This tour is conducted bilingually, in English and German.
