Winter in the Dolomites 6-Day Photography Tour
The Italian Dolomites are one of the most photogenic and most beautiful mountain ranges in the world. No wonder so many photographers head there in all conditions chasing the light. Winter is a particularly good time to visit; the low angle of the sun, snow covered peaks and changing weather conditions allow for some of the most unique photo opportunities.
Join us on this incredible winter in Dolomites photography workshop as we explore breathtaking alpine scenes around northern Italy. Using Cortina D’Ampezzo and the nearby rifugios as our base, we’ll get you to all the best spots to explore and capture snowy mountain peaks, mountain layers, glacial lakes and frosted hilltop churches. At this time of year, the light is good all day; sunrises come later and sunsets earlier so we aim to capture both every day.
Experience a range of incredible photographic locations and experiment with a variety of photography techniques on this 6-day workshop where you’ll travel in a small group, stay in well-chosen high quality accommodation and be guided and assisted by one of our experienced photography tour leaders.
This workshop takes place in a mountainous environment in winter conditions with possible snow and ice. Participants must be comfortable walking around in these conditions. We do not cover a lot of distance and elevation but moderate fitness is recommended.

Arrival
We meet as a group in the lobby of the Airport Marriott Hotel by 10:00 AM. If you prefer to arrive the day prior, just let us know, and we’ll reserve a room for you at the Airport Marriott Hotel. We arrive in the Dolomites in time for evening photography and a welcome dinner.
4 days will include
We will be photographing from the heart of the Dolomites, and staying in charming mountain huts. We have four full days to explore some of the best locations in the area. Our base will be Cortina D’Ampezzo and nearby rifugios (mountain huts). The rifugios allow us to be on location at the best time of the day, at sunrise and sunset. The exact itinerary is dependent on weather and snow conditions. We strive to make the most out of given conditions so the daily itinerary is decided on a day to day basis, all with best photos in mind. Some of the places that we consider visiting include Cinque Torri, Monte Lagazuoi, Seceda, mountain passes including Gardena, Giau, Falzarego, Sella and other. Sometimes we might use the ski resort infrastructure in order to get to our locations.
Departure
After breakfast and potentially a morning shoot, we’ll make our way back to Venice airport. You may schedule your flight home after 3:00 PM or if you’d like, we can help you arrange a few extra nights in Venice.
