8-day Self-guided Cycling Tour around Austria's 10 lakes

What is lovelier than being out and about, cycling along the banks of lakes, and just letting your spirit soar in a marvellous natural landscape? The cycling tour through the Salzkammergut and the Trumer Seen lake area is wonderfully suited for this. Only a few kilometres beyond Salzburg, you will be greeted by the luxury of a unique natural panorama. The gentle, hilly landscape of Salzburg’s alpine foothills has a charm all of its own. You will cycle through meadows and moorlands to Oberndorf – the place associated with the Christmas carol "Silent Night" - and also to the old imperial town of Bad Ischl. In a way, you will be travelling a whole world of clichés transformed into realities. The ten lakes round tour is active recreation, experiencing nature and enjoying many attractions, such as the mountain Schafberg and the castle Orth.

Tour character: Level 3

On the banks of the lakes and at the river Salzach, the routes are completely flat. In between, the terrain is mainly hilly. Depending on the option chosen, approximately one third of the route is on cycle paths and almost all the rest is through fields and on forest paths, farm roads, and quiet side roads. There are only a few short sections on roads with more traffic.

Wolfgangsee

We were very happy with our cycling holiday in Austria and thank you so much for organizing this for us! I think this was one of our best holidays so far, full of adventure and incredibly beautiful places. We loved the lake region and how each lake was different than the other! The scenery was amazing and the cycle paths were really taking us to some of the best views. We enjoyed being outdoors in nature and be active. We had two days of hard rain but the rest of the time the weather was really nice and it was a great experience! We loved the hotels too, especially the one at Wolfgangsee. That one was our favorite, but they all had a charming feel and we appreciated our stay. Anyway, we will for sure plan more biking holidays like this! It was an amazing experience and we enjoyed all of it! Happy faces and thanks to you! Thanks a lot for your great help and we will be recommending your bike tours to our friends!
