The barge is moored in the nice small town of Briare on the Loire River. You are expected to arrive at our barge on Tuesday between 2 PM and 3 PM. When you arrive on board, you can settle in and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. It is also a good moment to become acquainted with the tour leader, skipper and crew and of course your fellow passengers. During dinner aboard the ship, the program for the next day and the global planning of the week are discussed. Instructions on cycling and safely procedures will also be given. After dinner the tour leader will escort you on the first kilometres on your bike during a short ride around the town.

  • Day 2

Briare, visit Sancerre | 49 km

To visit the town of Sancerre, home of the famous white wine, we will take our bikes on the train. In the town you can visit the Maison de Sancerre where you can learn all about the different types of Sancerre wine. After this fascinating visit you will cycle back to Briare along a beautiful route on the signposted Loire Vélo trail. A worthy end to your cycling adventure in the heart of France.

  • Day 3

    Briare - Rogny-les-sept-Écluses | 41 km

This day takes us along country roads, slightly off the river, from Nemours to the charming old town of Montargis. Almost halfway, you'll reach the small town of Château-Landon, perched on a hilltop overlooking the river and the Loing Canal. A perfect spot for a lunch break. After a stop here, we'll visit the archaeological site of Aquae Segetae. In Roman times, this was a vast complex of thermal baths and temples. It was built on an even older Celtic sanctuary. After this fascinating piece of history, we'll drive back down the hills to Montargis on the Loing River.

  • Day 4

    Rogny-les-sept-Écluses - Chatillon | 40 km

After disembarking the Clair de Lune, take plenty of time to admire the fascinating lock system of Rogny-les-Sept-Ecluses. Today's bike ride takes you to Châtillon. Along the way, you'll cycle inland through diverse landscapes and small villages. Unfortunately, there aren't many places for a coffee or lunch break, but there are plenty of lovely spots to enjoy your packed lunch

  • Day 5

    Chatillon - Montargis | 50 km

Today's bike ride takes you to the charming old town of Montargis. Cycling along the Loing River, you'll first reach the town of Montcresson. Now we head inland, riding along country lanes to Château Renard, with its medieval castle where even Joan of Arc spent two nights. Château Renard boasts many charming streets and Tudor-style houses and is a lovely stop for coffee or lunch. We continue our route along a beautiful route along the Ouanne River to today's destination, Montargis.

  • Day 6

    Montargis - Nemours | 50 km

This day takes us along country roads, slightly off the river, from Montargis to Nemours, with its 12th-century castle. Almost halfway along, you'll reach the archaeological site of Aquae Segetae. In Roman times, this was a vast complex of thermal baths and temples. It was built on an even older Celtic sanctuary. After this fascinating piece of history, we reach the hilltop town of Château-Landon overlooking the river and the Loing Canal. A perfect spot for a lunch break. After our stop here, we drive down the hills to Nemours on the Loing.

  • Day 7

    Nemours - Fontainebleau - Moret-sur-Loing | 48 km

On this final day of cycling, you'll cycle along the Loing River again. Later, a short climb takes you to the Fontainebleau Forest, with its palace and beautiful gardens. Along the way, you'll see many ancient rocks and stones with surprising shapes. In Fontainebleau, we'll set aside plenty of time to visit these gardens before descending to our final destination, Moret-sur-Loing. This small medieval town is famous for the Impressionist painter Alfred Sisley, who lived and painted there in the late 19th century. Take your time strolling through the town and admiring the impressive city gates, keep, and cathedral.
