A love of islands

The southernmost and smallest of the Nordic countries, Denmark is made up of a peninsula and over 400 islands. This is a great country to explore if you love ocean and islands! Copenhagen is an interesting and attractive city to visit, situated on two islands which are joined by the Oresund bridge. A boat trip is never far away on canals or out on the ocean to discover islands. Several castles and Royal castles are based in and around Copenhagen and may be visited most of the year round.

Denmark's capital, Copenhagen is an absolute 'must see' place to visit. The parliament buildings at Christiansborg, the Danish/Swedish collaboration Oresund Bridge, a stunning feat of engineering which links the two countries by road and rail. For lovers of literature, a visit to Odense, the hometown of master storyteller Hans Christian Andersen, is a must.  In Copenhagen, the bicycle takes precedence over the car and is probably the best way to explore this compact, picturesque city. Danish food is excellent, providing some of the ebst tasting experiences of Scandinavia.

Other great visits

The Tivoli gardens, National Museum, the National History Museum in Frederiksborg palace, the Lego house in Billund and the Lyngby open-air museum are all wotrth a visit, and will give a perspective on the Danish culture and history. Also, on the tiny island of Slotsholmen in the center of Copenhagen is the Christiansborg palace, home of the Danish government.
