Charming Alsace villages and Burgundy wines 13-day Small Group Tour

The tour starts in the beautiful city of Strasbourg, along the Alsace wine route through charming villages with medieval architecture and on to Burgundy's renowned vineyards and chateaux to Macon, a small town on the banks of the river Saone.

Some of the places you will visit along the way include Colmar, Eguisheim and the chateau Haut Konigsberg, with good food and wine-tasting experiences along the way. Gastronomic delights await you in Burgundy where you can enjoy a wonderful Michelin star restaurant and stylish accommodation.

The city of Beaune is the hub of France’s most revered wine region, situated in the middle of Burgundy. Well known for its Hotel Dieu, a hospital built for the poor, with its beautiful roof and practical but elegant interior, this charming town is a great place to stay and visit local wineries.

Your tour finishes near the small town of Macon which sits on the banks of the river Saone.

  • Day 1

    Arrive at Strasbourg train station or airport for transfer to your hotel, with time to relax before the welcome dinner

  • Day 2

    A walking day in Strasbourg with a guided cathedral and city tour. Your choice of joining the group or enjoy the day visiting this famous city on your own, with maps and a meeting point provided. Late afternoon we will deliver you to the hotel where you can have a rest before dinner

    Visit around the pretty village of Obernai and surrounding villages along the 'Route des Vins' with some excellent wine-tasting on the way

    Transfer to your hotel near Colmar along the 'Route des Vins' with a visit to the chateau 'Haut Konigsberg' along the way. settle in before a sumptuous dinner

  • Day 5

    Today we visit Colmar and some charming villages of this region such as Riquewihr and Ribeauville. Some local cheese and wine-tasting will end your day before returning to your hotel

  • Day 6

    Today we will be discovering more of the typical Alsace delights, with some stunning architecture to see in Eguisheim.

  • Day 7

    Transfer to the Burgundy region. Settle into your accommodation at Beaune then we take an afternoon walking tour of the town centre visiting the Hospices de Beaune. .

  • Day 8

    A visit to the famous basilica in Vezelay and lunch in this charming village. Learn more about the Burgundy wines along the wine routes known as the 'Route des Grands Crus', and the 'Cote d'Or'. .

  • Day 9

    In the morning we will explore a few of the 38 picturesque wine villages of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune on our way to Dijon to do some mustard-tasting. Afterwards, an afternoon visit to the Vougeot chateau.

  • Day 10

    Transfer to your hotel not far from Macon. When we have settled in, we will take an afternoon drive to Macon where you can discover this charming village on the banks of the river Saone.

  • Day 11

    A day in the Jura's fresh air and countryside with a visit to the Baume Abbey, a pleasant walk to the Tuf waterfalls and a delicious lunch in Baumes-les-Messieurs. Return to your hotel

  • Day 12

    Free morning for a bike ride through the vineyards, a canoe on the river or relax and read a good book. After lunch, a walk through the village of Ige, where we can enjoy wine-tasting of Marsannay, a 'Cote de Nuits' region. A special farewell lunch in Ige, leaving you time to pack bags and prepare for the morning departure.

  • Day 13

    After breakfast, transfer and departure to Macon TGV train station or to Lyon airport. Or continue with us to the Italian Lakes region
