13-day Alsace and Burgundy Small Group Tour
Personally hosted by Carol Haslam, Director of Slow Tours. Carol lived in France for six years, speaks fluent French, knows this region really well and loves to show guests some of her favourite spots.
The tour starts in the beautiful city of Strasbourg, going along the Alsace wine route through charming villages with medieval architecture and on to Burgundy's renowned vineyards and chateaux to Macon, a small town on the banks of the river Saone.
Some of the places you will visit along the way include Colmar, Eguisheim and the chateau Haut Konigsberg, with good food and wine-tasting experiences along the way. Gastronomic delights await you in Burgundy where you can enjoy a wonderful Michelin star restaurant and stylish accommodation.
The city of Beaune is the hub of France’s most revered wine region, situated in the middle of Burgundy. Well known for its Hotel Dieu, a hospital built for the poor, with its beautiful roof and practical but elegant interior, this charming town is a great place to stay and visit local wineries. A tour of the largest underground cellars finishes with a tasting of many of the cellared wines. Visits to chateaux, abbeys, cathedrals and sites of interest are included in the tour.
Your tour finishes near the small town of Macon which sits on the banks of the river Saone.
Travel is in a comfortable new vehicle - Maximum 14 guests

I wanted to say how much we thoroughly enjoyed our 13-day tour of Alsace and Burgundy with you. Your attention to detail, selection of accommodation and places to visit was first class. Our small group had a fabulous time. There were so many highlights every day starting in beautiful Strasbourg and ending in vibrant Lyon: food, wine, history, architecture, culture, language, fabulous markets, stunning towns, chateaux and countryside. It was a wonderful insight to stunning parts of France we had not previously visited. I even enjoyed sharing the navigation with our inimitable sat-nav ‘Suzette’. We will certainly consider another tour with you and have highly recommended Slow Tours to friends and family. Alsace and Burgundy tour September 2019 Ian and Janet, Adelaide
