Tours in Slovenia

Slovenia is one of those untouched countries from a tourist point of view, with beautiful landscapes, ski slopes, lakes and mountains. Medieval castles, baroque facades mix with modern architecture in the capital of Ljubljana. Around half the country is natural forests and a joy for photographers and nature lovers. An excellent way to discover this country is through a tour including visits to local farms producing a variety of foods, cheeses, breads, cured meats and delicacies, tasting local wines and enjoying the Slovenian friendly culture.

European Green Capital

Ljubljana won this prestigious award in 2016, which explains why this city is not to be missed. Its efficient pedestrian and cycling systems and large clean, green areas within the city make it a joy for active tours.  The three bridges connect the old town to the modern town across the Ljubljanica River, and if you want to walk this delightful area, there are even free historical walking tours available.

Cities and towns

Slovenia has only 67 towns which have a population of over 3000 people. Places not to be missed are:

  • Bled - a stuningly beautiful small town on the banks of Lake Bled. Situated at the foot of the Julian Alps, it is a charming town with coffee shops, restaurants, boutique shops. Here you can take a canoe or a local boat to the island in the middle of lake Bled to see the baroque church, or cycle along the amazingly beautiful bike tracks.
  • Piran - perched on cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean, this medieval town is small in size but large in history, culture, churches and museums.
  • Bovec - the highest ski slopes in Slovenia on the borders of Italy. Situated in the soca valley, which inspired the novel ' A Farewell to Arms'.
  • Koper - a Mediterranean resort near the Italian border, which has some really interesting Venetian architecture, a memento of its past.
