From the city of Tours, this cycling trip will lead you through the Vouvray and Montlouis vineyards before riding along the Loire river banks to the château of Chaumont sur Loire and its amazing International Garden Festival … You will also discover the outstanding Loire Valley’s sites such as the chateau de Chenonceau, the Royal city of Amboise and the Renaissance Gardens of Villandry!

Arrival in Tours

Tours – Amboise | 35 km
For your 1st bike stage, leave Tours by following the Loire River and its « Loire à Vélo » cycling paths. Then ride through the Vouvray vineyards where the famous sparkling white wine is produced, in the silence of the cellars dug into the ‘tuffeau’ stone. Continue to Amboise to discover the royal chateau where the greatest kings of France used to live. A few streets further on, you will admire the Clos Lucé Manor House which is the last home of Leonardo Da Vinci.
Amboise – Chenonceaux | 50 km
The « Loire à Vélo » cycling paths will bring you from vineyards to Loire River banks to Chaumont-sur-Loire, whose 15th-century château proudly dominates the town and the river. Don’t miss to visit the extraordinary International Garden Festival! Now you can reach the famous Château de Chenonceau, straddling elegantly the Cher river, and which was the scene of a famous rivalry in French history: that of Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici.
Chenonceaux – Tours | 36 km
Cycle today through the peaceful countryside before crossing the Montlouis vineyards and its numerous wine cellars. You will have the opportunity to reach the beautiful château de la Bourdaisière which is now famous for its vegetable gardens: a tomato conservatory producing more than 650 varieties … which is unique in the world! Proceed to Tours by longing smoothly the Loire River on its cycling paths.
Excursion to Villandry | 39 km
On your last bike excursion, you will follow the “Loire à vélo” cycling paths to reach Villandry and its famous ‘French style’ Renaissance gardens. Enjoy the ‘Ornamental kitchen Garden’, the ‘Garden of Love’, the ‘Water Garden’ and the ‘Sun Garden’. Come back to Tours following the peaceful countryside routes.
