  • Day 1

Arrive at Bordeaux airport or train station for a 2-hour drive to your accommodation. Settle in and relax at the hotel before a welcome dinner

  • Day 2

Our day starts after a breakfast overlooking the pool, and a short drive to La Roque Gageac, a village built into the cliff with some very interesting architectural features. A morning boat ride on one of the famous Gabarres takes us down the Dordogne river with views of ancient bridges and castles. We lunch on the terrace of the chateau Marqueyssac and enjoy a stroll around the topiary and acres of gardens with clifftop views over the river

  • Day 3

After breakfast, we drive to Montignac for a browse in the village, walking across the bridge for lunch overlooking the river Vezere before visiting the prehistoric caves at Lascaux II. An afternoon stop at La Roque St Christophe will surprise you with a mix of prehistoric and medieval habitations in a cliff side

  • Day 4

An early start takes us to an underground cave at Padirac. Then it is off to Rocamadour, one of the most stunning towns in this region, built on 3 levels where you can climb to the Abbey at the top, or there are lifts for those who prefer

  • Day 5

Today is market day in Sarlat so the markets are the first stop after breakfast at the hotel. The old medieval town buildings have been beautifully restored, so we take an afternoon exploring its church, abbey and cathedral, cobblestone streets, cafes and many shops where you can taste the wonderful 'foie gras' of the region. Your choice if you would like to wander with a map, or join a guided tour. Mid-afternoon we return to the hotel for some free time before a sumptuous dinner at the old village of Domme

  • Day 6

After breakfast, we transfer you for departure from Toulouse airport or train station.

Over the past 30 years I have travelled to most parts of the world , often alone and at times with a tour group. I have just returned from southern France in the Dordogne region, after a week on tour with Slow Tours and Carol Haslam the organiser. This tour rates as probably the best I have ever done , it was relaxed ,uncomplicated, full of experieces, personally accommodating, and highly professional. I am still soaking in my memories and I encourage anyone who is seeking a beautiful experience in France to contact Slow Tours. Thank you Carol. David, Sydney Australia, June 2011. Marseille Wooden Boat Regatta week/Dordogne/Quercy

My husband and I flew to France from Australia to join Carol Haslam of Slow Tours, travelling the south of France for a month followed by a week in Paris. Carol is a very professional tour operator and her experience and knowledge of France is phenominal as is her command of the language which was more than helpful for us. Our interest took us to the beautiful countryside of Dordogne, Provence West where we stayed at St. Remy followed by Provence East staying in the medieval village of Le Castellet. Our accommodation in all areas was most comfortable and pleasant. Carol's choice of restaurants was superb. We enjoyed with our group the slow ambience of travel without tiring especially as we were driven to all places. We could not have planned our travel as well on our own and were overwhelmed with all that we experienced. Thank you Carol.
