Easy to moderate level 7-day cycling tour on back roads with little traffic and on unpaved tracks, from Catalonia 's natural park of the Garrotxa volcanoes to the Mediterranean sea.

This route goes from the mountains to the sea, crossing three nature parks of great scenic beauty. The itinerary leads us to a great variety of landscapes in this beautiful region of Catalonia.

Included in the Catalonia Cycling Tour:

  • Day 1

    Arrival

    Meet at the hotel before midday. Olot is located in the Natural Park of the Garrotxa volcanoes. We go on an easy hike through the volcanic zone and 'Fageda d'en Jorda' (spectacular beech forest). Lunch in a restaurant of the fageda with tasting of typical products of the area. Dinner in the hotel.

  • Day 2

    Olot to Girona (61kms easy level)

    Along an old railway track, conditioned for cycling, we head towards the city of Girona. The assistance van will prepare a picnic in the middle of the journey. Girona is a city on a smaller scale with all the charm of a larger city. Take a leisurely stroll through the old town, visit the historic buildings, wander through the streets and squares and discover the tourist attractions, restaurants, etc. Free afternoon to discover the city. Dinner not included.

  • Day 3

    Girona - Platja d'Aro - Palamos (49kms easy level)

    We continue our route along the old railroad 'carrilet' until we reach Platja d'Aro on the Costa Brava ending up in the beautiful town of Palamos. In the middle of the tour we will stop to eat in a typical restaurant of the area. Dinner in the hotel at Platja d'Aro.

  • Day 4

    Palamos to Empuries (46kms easy level)

    Empuries is one of the unique scenes of Spain's history. Gateway to the Greek and Roman culture on the Iberian Peninsula, Empuries is an exceptional site, where the remains of a Greek city - the colonial enclave of Emporion - co-exist with those of a Roman city, the old one Emporiae, created at the beginning of the 1st century BC. Guided tour, optional, of the ancient sites of Empuries declared by Unesco as one of the most beautiful in the world. The assistance van will prepare a picnic lunch in the middle of the route. Dinner at the hotel l'Escala.

  • Day 5

    Empuries to Peralada (28 kms easy level)

    Today we cycle from l'Escala to Peralada, crossing through the Emporda wetlands, a flat route through the magnificent natural park. The assistance van will prepare a picnic in the middle of the route. Dinner at the hotel.

  • Day 6

    Peralada - Cadaques - Peralada (40kms medium/high level)

    The most intrepid can face this stage of 40 kms with 900m rising up to the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes in the natural park of the Cap de Creus, arriving at the picturesque village of Cadaques. One of the most beautiful villages in Catalonia. Those who prefer may park their bike and go to Cadaques by bus. Lunch is in a Cadaques restaurant then return to the hotel by bus. Gala dinner at the hotel in Peralada

  • Day 7

    Departure

    Breakfast at the hotel then departure.
