Alongside the Canal of Burgundy you will admire marvellous landscapes and discover small burgundian villages. From Dijon to Auxerre, you will cross land known for centuries: Ouche Valley, the Abbey of la Bussière, Chateauneuf, Commarin, the Voûte of Pouilly, the Collégiale St Thibault, Alesia, Flavigny sur Ozerain and its aniseed, the Abbey of Fontenay, Ancy le Franc... and these places are only some of the most important!

Arrival in Dijon
Upon arrival make your way to your first hotel. After check-in you are free to relax or explore Dijon. Delivery of road-book, maps, tourist information... everything you need to succeed your tour. Overnight stay in Dijon.
Dijon – Crugey / Vandenesse: 43 km / 49 km
Leaving the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy by Lake Kir, along the Burgundy Canal. You begin your journey through the wildest part of the Canal: Ouche Valley. On the Road: The Castle Barbirey, the Abbaye de la Bussiere ... Overnight in a charming bed and breakfast in Crugey.
Crugey / Vandenesse - Clamerey: 33 km / 27 km
Your cycling itinerary will lead you through the Burgundy countryside. You will be in the heart of a rather feudal area, with Chateauneuf-en-Auxois and Commarin, two imposing castles. Then you enter the area of Auxois. You will discover its treasures: the Vaults of Pouilly (here Burgundy Canal is underground), the Castle of Eguilly, the Collegiate Church of St Thibault. Overnight stay in a Guest House along the Canal.
Clamerey - Montbard: 36 kms
Another step rich in history... Many visits are possible, alongside the canal or nearby: Bussy-Rabutin, Semur-en-Auxois, Flavigny sur Ozerain, Alésia,...You will continue your route following the waterside. At the end of the day if you don’t arrive to late, visit the Cistercian Abbey of Fontenay, a calm place to end the day nicely. Overnight stay in Montbard.
Montbard - Ancy-le-Franc/Chassignelles: 26 kms
On your way to Ancy-le-Franc you may visit La Grande Forge de Buffon, and other hidden treasures: windmills, washhouses, churches, châteaux... in Aisy, Rougemont, ... You can come across barges on the water. You can visit Ancy-le-Franc and its Château when you arrive in the village. Overnight stay in Ancy-le-Franc.
Ancy-le-Franc/Chassignelles - Tonnerre : 20 kms
You will carry on following the towpaths alongside the canal of Burgundy to reach your next stop. You will come to the beautiful Valley of the Abbey of Quincy and the Valley of Armançon unless you decide to adventure off and explore the magnificent Renaissance Château of Tanlay. When you get to Tonnerre, you can visit the town and its famous Fosse Dionne turned into a beautiful washhouse. Overnight stay in Tonnerre.
Tonnerre – Auxerre: 55 kms or 65 kms (or 45 kms + train)
Two itineraries possible today: first through the vineyards of Chablis, known for its white wines, and then on the small countryside roads until Auxerre (55 kms). Second one following the Burgundy Canal to Migennes and then by bike or train to Auxerre (65 kms). Overnight stay in Auxerre.
Departure
After breakfast, free time in Auxerre. Trip back to Dijon by train possible (it takes 2h). End of our services or ask us about an extra night in Auxerre
