Some basic fitness is needed, because although the landscape is stunning, it is also hilly. Longer distances, such as the return trip from Lucca or Vinci, are made by bus and train.
Tuscany has a wonderful but also hilly landscape. You will cycle on quiet minor roads and sometimes even on country lanes. Close to bigger cities, traffic is unfortunately unavoidable.
